MEET OUR DENTAL THERAPY DOG

Eddie

Studies show that therapy dogs in dental offices help patients feel more comfortable and less anxious. Starting in April 2021, we are excited to welcome Eddie, the therapy dog, to our practice!

Eddie is a 5 year old yellow Labrador Retriever. Eddie was raised and trained by Canine Companions for Independence service dog organization in Columbus, OH.

He is currently certified as a “Working Therapy Dog” through Therapy Dogs International. When he’s not going for long walks with his owner, Jim, or chasing tennis balls, Eddie works in the Pet Therapy Program at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh and visits four senior homes monthly.

If you’d like to meet Eddie, call us to see when he will be visiting the practice!

COMPASSION IN THE COMMUNITY

“We must learn to regard people less in light of what they do or omit to do and more in the light of what they suffer.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The mission of Compassion Endodontics is to compassionately care for those who are suffering with dental disease and pain. We believe everyone is worthy of compassion. Not only do we want to care for the people that come into our office, but also the community of Reading at large. Therefore, to show compassion to the community, we are partnering with Hope Rescue Mission.

Hope Rescue Mission has been in Reading for over 125 year as a refuge for men struggling with addiction, homelessness and unemployment. Their goal is to shine a light into the lives of those experiencing dark times. They do this by not only providing for physical needs, but for caring for the whole person- spirit, soul and body. They do this with the utmost respect and compassion.

Because Compassion Endodontics and Hope Rescue Mission share the same values, Compassion Endodontics has pledged that for every root canal performed, a man experiencing homelessness is sheltered overnight and fed three meals in an Emergency Shelter Program.
